1st, Make sure that you choose a website that is safe to browse to, and also safe for downloading files you want.. coz based on my Experience there are some sites out there, that can do harm on your Pc, Just by dropping or browsing on it, and infects your Pc like, rogue malware, adware, trojans and Viruses etc.. So be aware of sites that is Safe..! Like This Blogsite..! Ehem.

2nd, When you start downloading a file, you will notice its always compressed, there is a reason why its compressed, first it may not harm the program itself on downloading status, and its better to download a bit by bit of a file, you ask y?? So that in cases that if the file you downloaded get corrupted, you won start on the begining you just download the part that is corrupted..

3rd, Make sure your Pc supports the .rar files.. You need a winrar program to do that.. Install this on your PC, if your Pc dont have it yet, well here's the link " Winrar 4.1.65 Full "

4th, Always Read the whole Post first, before downloading the Utilities, sofware, game, or movie, you want, so that you would know the info, features, and system requirements of the program you wanted to install and so that you also would know if Your Pc supports it..

5th, I suggest that you Use a download manager program to boost your Downloads and it has the capacity to resume the program you wanted to download.. It boosts your download 50% faster than ordinary download on your browser, you need it.. " Internet Download Manager [IDM] v5.14 "

But not all downloads are resumable, bcoz it depends on the downloading Hosts.. there are some Hosts that are not resumbale to download, i can name a few Like Rapidshare, Mediafire, etc..

6th, Make sure that you Scan, all your Downloaded files First before extracting it.. you may never know whats inside hiding the compressed file or data.. Based on my experience the compression of the data hides the trojan, virus, or worms compressed on the file or data, its a dumb idea extracting it, and not Scanning it first..
